BEHIND THE MIRROR poster

An alternative world, an allegory of the one we live in and a tribute of sorts to Domanović and Nušić.

With the atmosphere of Domanović's Stradija and Danga, inspired by Rale Milenković's stage production ‘Our Days’, and characters reminiscent of those in Nušić's plays.

In short: us, today.

Our everyday lives and upside-down values, seen from a lighter angle, as if reflected in a distorting mirror.

Synopsis

SRBA (40+) is educated, talented, creative and hardworking—and a complete loser. He is out of place, unmarried, unemployed and homeless, and increasingly lonely. After a few drinks with an old friend, he imagines how he would change everything if he were given a second chance, as in a film.

The next morning he wakes on the other side of the mirror, in a world combining those of Domanović and Nušić—almost like our own. He can see his room from his old world in the mirror, but can no longer enter it. He realises that in this new world he has a chance to correct his mistakes and live as he wished. His advantage is that he recognises everything. He knows exactly what to do to succeed—if, this time, he chooses to play by the existing rules.
