SHAKESPEARE THE OTHER SIDE poster

EMA (50+) is a theatre director, dramaturg and Shakespeare scholar. Dedicated to her work, she is successful, well known and respected. Her private life is falling apart. Her husband is a corrupt politician embroiled in constant scandals; he has a young mistress who is a friend of their daughter. Their daughter has a severe drug addiction, and they have fought for her life several times. Their son is a criminal and drug dealer whom his father repeatedly keeps out of prison.

With her students, Ema is preparing a production about the 74 ways Shakespeare's characters die, called ‘Shakespeare: The Other Side’. She seems to live two parallel lives. In one, she is staging the play and living at the theatre, having supposedly left her family because of work. In the other, she is isolated and in constant conversation with a psychiatrist after committing a terrible crime.
